Nursing program

  • At Huntington University, they motivate the next generation of nurses to pursue that passion. Huntington University nursing pupils gain the practical skills that are coveted in the health care industry, but they also are trained how to harness their passion for serving other people in their field.
  • The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) training program at HU is created upon Christian principles which are strengthened by the wide curriculum in the liberal arts.
  • As a nursing student at Huntington University, you will take two kinds of courses: pre-nursing classes and also nursing classes (including clinical).

About the school

  • Huntington University is an institution of higher education in Huntington, Indiana, United States Of America, connected with the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. The institution is an associate of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
  • The institution started as “Central College” in the year 1897. The name transformed to “Huntington College” in 1917. Huntington obtained certification from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1961, and the school adopted its present name in the year 2005.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

To be admitted into HU’s nursing program, a student must:

  • Complete a minimum of 58 credit hours of required freshmen and sophomore courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Maintain a grade of “C” or better in each supporting course (BI 232/232L, BI 241/241L; BI 242/242L; CH 141/141L; EN 121; CO 215; MA 151; PY 111 and PY 230; and SO 111). Please note that all science and math courses may be repeated only once to obtain the required grade of “C” or above to be eligible for entry into the program
  • Achieve satisfactory completion of all sections of the Application to the Nursing Major
  • Achieve a satisfactory score on the Test of Essential Academic Skills™ (TEAS).
  • Prove their ability to perform the Essential Abilities
  • Complete a satisfactory interview with the Director of Nursing or designated faculty member
  • Complete a background check and a drug test

In the event of equall- qualified candidates, priority will be given to students who:

  • Have a higher GPA and grades in supporting courses
  • Have higher scores in the TEAS™ Assessment
  • Submit the entire admission application packet earlier than the due date with consideration based on the order received. Packets must be submitted by March 31 to be considered for the following academic year, admission to the nursing program after this date will depend on available space.
