Nursing Program
Associate Degree Nursing in Hinds Community College is a two-year training program that grooms the graduate as a generalist competent at providing dependable, accountable client care in varied functions. Primary areas of focus encompass the following core aspects of nursing practice: professional behaviors, communication, evaluation, clinical decision making, caring interventions, coaching and learning, conjunction and managing care.
Two alternatives are available: the Generic Option along with the Transition to Registered Nurse Option.The Transition to Registered Nurse Option is built to assist the licensed practical nurse (LPN), paramedic and also respiratory therapist to make the transition to registered professional nurse (RN).
Upon successful completion of the training program, the graduate will be qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Register Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Courses are offered at the Nursing/Allied Health Centre of the Jackson Campus and also at the Vicksburg Campus.

Hinds Community College (HCC) is a community college with its primary campus situated in Raymond, Mississippi, USA, about 5 miles west of Jackson, the state capital. It was founded in the year 1917.
The Hinds Community College District includes Hinds County, part of Copiah County, Claiborne County, Rankin County, and Warren County. With an enrolment of more than 12,000 pupils at six campuses, it is the biggest community college in Mississippi.

Generic Associate Degree Nursing Admissions Requirements
- Application to Hinds Community College
- Application for Selection to the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
- Validation of High School Graduation by official high school transcript, high school equivalency transcript (GED®, HiSET®, TASC) or college transcript.
- Official Transcripts from all colleges attended (except Hinds CC)
- ACT Composite Score of 18 or above (If taken prior to October 1989 – 15.
- ACT sub-score of 18 in Math (If taken before October 1989-15)
- ACT sub-score of 18 in Reading (applicants who took the ACT prior to October 1989 must retake the ACT to obtain the Reading sub-score)
- Overall GPA of 2.5 on transferable college credits.
Transition to RN Option Admissions Requirements
- Application to Hinds Community College
- Application for Selection to the Transition to RN Option

- Effective July 1, 2016, overall GPA of 2.2 on transferable college credits. (Effective July 1, 2017, overall GPA 2.35 on transferable credits; effective July 1, 2018, overall GPA of 2.50 on transferable college credits.)
- Validation of current unencumbered professional license or certification.
- Written recommendation from immediate supervisor or instructor from respective practical nursing, paramedic, or respiratory therapy program.
