Nursing program
Harry S. Truman College’s Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program is a two-year program of study, comprising seventy credit hours. Before the program, applicants are required to apply to the City Colleges of Chicago. Both clinical experiences and classroom instruction in Chicago and neighbouring primary care facilities and suburban area hospitals are offered.
The curriculum is planned to guide the student to employment as a Registered Professional Nurse in clinics, hospitals, public health, nursing homes, physicians’ offices, government, and military, schools, or industry. Students receive classroom lessons and commute to nearby clinics and hospitals to get hands-on practice in the nursing field.
Graduates of the AAS in Nursing program are fit to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX_RN). If successful, they may start working immediately as Registered Nurses (RN) or enter an RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at any other college or university.
