Nursing Program
The Registered Nursing Program offers educational opportunities to competent students applying a curriculum that is structured to prepare graduates who are fit to serve as entry-level registered nurses. Professional nursing is an interactive and dynamic process that views the family, client, and community holistically. The curriculum entails a balance of current nursing theory, general education, and clinical and laboratory experience.
HCC provides two program options that enable students to select between a more intensive two-year program or a three-year program. Upon completion of the program, the graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
RN Program Pathways
Three-Year RN Program
HCC’s three-year nursing pathway enables students to obtain the associate of science degree in nursing in three calendar years. These students complete the majority of general education requirements prior to enrolling in two years of nursing courses. Students on this route apply for entry into attaining other admission standards. Students in the conventional pathway may opt to enter the labor force or transfer to a four-year institution to acquire higher degrees like bachelor’s degree in nursing within five years.
Two-Year RN Program
HCC’s two-year nursing program enables qualified students to acquire an associate of science degree in nursing in two years rather than the conventional three years. Upon successful completion of the program, students can opt to start work or spend another two years at a higher institution to obtain a bachelor of science degree in nursing. This program is a perfect fit for students who can take up to 16 credits a semester and who are academically ready for a more rigorous course load.
