Gogebic Community College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews

Nursing program

Gogebic Community College awards a full-time Associate Degree Nursing program. The program consists of two consecutive semesters which starts each August. All classes are run on the major campus in Ironwood. Clinical sites are situated in the Copper Country and Ironwood.

Registered Nurses carry out patient assessments; evaluate, implement and develop client care plans; provide guidance and supervision to LPNs and allied health care technicians.

RNs prevent disease, promote health, and help clients manage with illness. They provide treatment, care, and health education to clients, families and the community.

About the school

Gogebic Community College is a public two-year college situated in Ironwood, Michigan, United States, and was established as Ironwood Junior College in 1932. The college has a central campus in Ironwood and an annex in Houghton, Michigan to attend to Houghton County and the neighboring area.

The college grants two-year associate’s degrees, different certification programs, occupational training, and other learning prospects for the neighboring community.

For the 2013-2014 academic year, the school had about 1097 students, of which 18% were from outside Michigan, and 6% were from minority groups. Estimated costs for the freshman year are $15,328 for Michigan residents and $16,486 for non-Michigan people. The college runs on a semester schedule.

Annual Tuition & Fees is estimated at $11,836

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Requirements for acceptance into the associate degree nursing program with LPN exit option:

  • Currently Certified as a Nurse Aide
  • Application to the Nursing Program
  • Successful Completion of Pre-requisite courses (BIO 250, PSY 101, ENG 101, ORI 100) Must have Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher in these courses.
  • Place in Math 104 or higher, or complete Math 103 with a C or higher.

Some applicants may need prerequisite courses that they did not complete during their LPN training. This will be evaluated by your advisor upon admission to the college prior to your acceptance into the program.
