The Associate Degree Nursing Program at WCCS has two options for the LPN to RN Mobility Program. The first option requires traditional classroom time two days each week. The second option requires students to be in the classroom only for orientation, laboratories, and exams. The students do not have to attend the classroom lectures but are invited to do so when more difficult subjects are covered. Downloadable lectures are available, and students are encouraged to communicate with instructors via chat rooms, email, and telephone. Under both plans, students have a requirement of 90 hours of clinical rotations. The Associate Degree Nursing Program at Wallace Community College has been endorsed by the Alabama Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
About the school
George C Wallace State Community College-Selma (WCCS) is a member of the College Association of Alabama which is Alabama’s leading system of higher education.
WCCS was founded in 1963 with legislation that provided for the funding and advancement of a system of technical schools and junior colleges in Alabama. Consequently, 20 acres of land was provided for the Selma campus. A technical school was first built on the site, but a few years later more buildings came up and it developed into a full-fledged junior college.
WCCS has programs leading to an Associate in Science Degree and Associate in Arts Degree plus the University Parallel Transfer Programs. The College also has 16 technical programs which include Practical Nursing and Nursing Assistant. WCCS has an enrollment of 1,709 students who are mostly from Central Alabama.
