Nursing Program
The Registered Nursing program trains graduates to enter the fast-paced, dynamic environment of health care services. Successful completion of the program leads to an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and entry into various practice settings.
Graduates are qualified to apply to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) NCLEX-RN exam for licensure and practice as registered nurses (RNs). The Associate in Applied Science Degree (RN) is approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing and equally accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
Students are admitted to this program once a year (Fall) at the Wallace Drive Campus.
About the school
Gadsden State Community College (GSCC) is a two-year college in three cities; Anniston, Gadsden, and Center all in northeastern Alabama. It has four campuses viz a viz Ayers, Wallace Drive, Valley Street, and East Broad in the three cities above.
The College has 8 thousand students and offers programs that lead to an Associate in Arts Degree, an Associate in Applied Science Degree, an Associate in Science Degree, a Certificate or a Short-term Certificate.
Total program cost is USD 4460. Out of station is 2.0 times the fee for in-state.

Admission to the Registered Nursing (RN) Program is very competitive. Also the number of students admitted is constrained by the number of faculty and clinical facilities in existence. Applicants who meet minimum requirements are rank-ordered for acceptance using a state-approved point system. Meeting minimal requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
Minimum admission standards include:
- Unconditional admission to the college.
- Submit Associate Degree Nursing Program Online application by the published deadline.
- Minimum of 2.5 GPA for required academic core courses.
- Minimum of 2.5 high school GPA for students without prior college work
- Minimum of 18 ACT composite score National or Residual. Must be on file with Admissions/Registrar’s Office.
- Eligibility for ENG 101 and MTH 100 (higher level math accepted).
- Eligibility for BIO 201 during the first term of any Nursing Program.
- Good standing with the college.
- Meeting the essential functions required for nursing.
- NUR courses are not subject to course forgiveness and will be included in the GPA average for admission and progression purposes.
- Applicants previously enrolled in any nursing program must provide a Letter of Good Standing (letter of eligibility) from the Dean or Director of the previous nursing program.
