Nursing Program

The Associate Degree in Nursing Program at Florida Gateway College took effect in 1964.

The ADN program options are greatly ranked in merit as proven by a consistent state board passing rate exceeding state and/or national levels for over five years.

The veteran nursing faculty is well equipped in both academics and clinical.  Students obtain one-on-one supervision in the virtual lab of the Medical Technology Building alongside the small group administration in clinical facilities.

Upon successful graduation, the student receives an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing.  Graduates of the program are competent to enter a range of careers as staff nurses at sensitive healthcare system.

The program cost for in-state residents is around $11,0872

About The School

Florida Gateway College (FGC) formally known as Lake City Community College, is a state college in Lake City, Florida, U.S. FGC is located adjacent to Lake City Gateway Airport, six miles (10 km) east of Lake City.

It was established in 1947 as the Columbia Forestry School, and later became a junior college in 1961, but the current name was adopted in 2008. Today, FGC is part of the Florida College System designated a “state college” which makes it eligible to offer four-year bachelor’s degrees. FGC started the new RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing on January 9, 2011.

It equally offers academic programs in sciences and liberal arts, occupational training and personal enrichment. The institution caters to 7,000 students annually from its five-county district, which includes Dixie, Baker, Gilchrist, Columbia and Union counties.

Although admission to associate degree programs requires that an applicant have graduated from high school, have a general education diploma (GED®) issued by a state department of education, or have satisfactorily completed their home-educated requirements as required by F.S. 1007.263, a limited number of certificate programs are available regardless of high school graduation.

Apply for Admission – Complete the FGC admission application, supplying all required documents as noted on the application by the application deadline. Note:  Admission Application Priority Deadlines!  Please reference the college’s “Critical Dates” on the college website. Source: www.fgc.edu to Apply Online. Select “Apply Now” or download the paper application and submit by mail, in person or email to [email protected].

  1. Financial Aid

Apply for Financial Aid (Only necessary for those seeking financial assistance) – Students seeking financial aid/assistance are encouraged to apply for aid early (recommended six months in advance of intended enrollment) via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Prepare for Placement Testing – The following exams are administered at the FGC Test Center located in Building 17/Main Campus:  CLEP; FBAT; HESI; PERT; TABE; NFSI; and the Pearson VUE GED®. Source: testcenter.fgc.edu to schedule an appointment.

The FGC College Success Lab provides free placement test preparation for the PERT!  Boot camp for math, reading and writing brush-up is offered two weeks prior to the start of each semester with re-PERT opportunity!
