Nursing program

  • The aim of the nursing training program at Fairleigh Dickinson University is to prepare a professional nurse to render comprehensive nursing care to individuals and also families in all environments where health care is needed.
  • Laboratory experiences are concurrent with nursing theory and commence at the first-semester of sophomore-level courses. Starting at the sophomore level, pupils are assigned to some clinical laboratory experiences at various locations including clinics, nursing homes, hospitals, and community health agencies. The training program is reviewed and also evaluated periodically by the faculty, consumers, students, community health-care organizations as well as external accrediting bodies to assess quality and relevance.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Traditional 4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

Applicants to FDU’s 120-credit traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program must meet the following requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited secondary school with a record indicating potential to succeed in college
  • Completion of the following high school studies:
  • 4 units of English
  • 1 unit of chemistry with lab
  • 2 units of history
  • 1 unit of biology with lab
  • 2 units of college preparatory mathematics
  • Recommended courses:
  • 1 unit of physics
  • 2 units of foreign language
  • A minimum of 16 high school academic units is required for admission.
  • SAT SCORE REQUIREMENT:
  • SAT (old scale – Math plus Critical Reading)

Composite – 1020

Math – 500

  • SAT (new scale – Math plus evidenced-based Reading & Writing; exams taken March 2016 and after)

Composite – 1100

Math – 530

  • ACT SCORE REQUIREMENT

Composite 22

  • GPA REQUIREMENT

3.00 or higher

  • Must pass Kaplan Admission Test (KAT) – APPLIES TO TRANSFER STUDENTS ONLY
