Nursing Program
The Nursing degree training program comprises of sequential courses which require five sequential terms to complete. To prolong the nursing training program over a lot more than two years, an individual may take 1, 2, or 3 general studies or science classes per semester before applying for admission to the nursing training program.
After completing the Registered Nursing Alternative, pupils will earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing. Continuation in and also graduation from the nursing training program is dependent upon the pupil attaining a grade of at least “C” in all nursing courses and BIO 126S, BIO 125S, BIO 240S, BIO 241S, CHM 111S, and MTH 125S. Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Official high school transcript with graduation date (College Credit Plus students: current high school transcript) or GED scores, postmarked by the application deadline for the desired term;
- College work with an overall weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher for all college transcripts. Official transcripts postmarked by the application deadline for the desired term;
- ACT, SAT or placement assesment scores, postmarked by the application deadline for the desired term;
- Successful completion of required developmental courses;
- Demonstrated improvement in recent academic work;
- Essay describing one’s personal qualities that will support success in the nursing program.
In addition to complying with the College’s general admission procedures, Nursing program applicants must:
- Have satisfactorily completed CIT 100S Introduction to Computers or passed CIT 100S proficiency exam.
- Have successfully completed one year of high school chemistry. Applicants may take CHM 110S Introduction to Chemistry as an equivalent course.
- Have satisfactory math assessment score, a grade of “B” or higher in MTH 097D Beginning Algebra, or a grade of “C” or higher in MTH 098D Intermediate Algebra I.
- Have satisfactory assessment scores in reading and writing to be ready to take ENG 121S Composition I or successfully completed ENG 091D Basic Writing and ENG 093D College Preparatory Reading.
- Submit a Registered Nursing Program application for admission into NUR 135S Health Promotion of the Adult during one of the two application periods. Applications are accepted any time after September 1 until the application deadline of January 31 for the next fall term. Applications are accepted any time after March 1 until the application deadline of July 31 for the next spring term.
LPN-AND TRANSITION
- College work with an overall weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher for all college transcripts (excludes LPN program GPA).
- Official high school, LPN, and any college transcripts to be postmarked by the application deadline.
- Demonstrated improvement in recent academic work.
- Essay describing one’s personal qualities that will support success in the nursing program.
In addition to complying with the College’s general admission procedures, LPNs applying for the Transition program must:
- Hold a current valid Ohio license as an LPN.
- Have satisfactory completion of CIT 100S Introduction to Computers or CIT 100S proficiency exam.
- Have satisfactory placement assessment score in math, a grade of “B” or higher in MTH 097D Beginning Algebra, or a “C” or higher in MTH 098D Intermediate Algebra I.
- Have successfully completed prerequisite courses as follows: BIO 125S Anatomy & Physiology I and CHM 111S Basic Chemistry of Life Processes with a grade of “C” or higher; PSY 121S Introduction to Psychology; and ENG 121S Composition I. (Note: High school chemistry or CHM 110S Introduction to Chemistry is prerequisite for BIO 125S and CHM 111S.)
- Submit an LPN/ADN Transition Program application for admission into NUR 210S Role of Nurse in Clinical Applications I during one of the two application periods. Applications are accepted any time after September 1 until the application deadline of January 31 for the next fall term. Applications are accepted any time after March 1 until the application deadline of July 31 for the next spring term
