Eastern Arizona College was established in 1888, Eastern Arizona College (EAC), is a community college located in Graham County, Arizona. The Eastern Arizona College was chartered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; it is regarded as the oldest college in Arizona. Classes were usually held in a church room in Central, Arizona in 1890 with just 17 students. Then it was called the St. Joseph stake academy. Later the school was moved to Thatcher, Arizona, to create a conducive environment for academic discipline.
Currently, the school offers various certificates and degree programs. The main campus of the school is located in Thatcher, with satellite locations in Gila County, and Greenlee County.
NURSING
Its ADN nursing program is specifically designed to allow students to enter or exit from the program based on their needs, space availability and time restraints. To take part in the nursing programs, students are expected to apply for admission. Upon completion of the program, students still need to apply for a nursing license in Arizona and to take the NCLEX-RN certification test. The ADN nursing program is accredited by the Arizona state board of nursing, and accredited by the accreditation commission for education.
The average cost of running the program is $9,140
ADMISSION SELECTION
Selection for admission is competitive and based upon completion of all admission requirements including prerequisites. Top-ranking applicants are admitted into the program. A list of alternates is also selected. These candidates retain their alternate status through the first two weeks of classes pending opening admission slots. Alternates not selected and applicants not chosen for the nursing program must reapply.

- EAC reading competency test (compass score) of 76 or greater

- study guides are available in the bookstore, online or at the nursing education center.
- copy of a current and valid department of public safety fingerprint clearance card (allow 4 –6 weeks for dps processing)
- applicants working in healthcare, desiring credit toward admission, may provide a letter from their employer indicating position held, work quality, responsibility, and duration at that healthcare facility
