Nursing program

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Students must pass (or have in progress) all eight prerequisite courses with a minimum 3.25 GPA.
- PSY 1100- Introduction to Psychology
- FYE 1001/2000- Big History (transfers should take instead:Intro Soc/Cult. Anthro)
- ENGL 1004 Expository Writing
- CMS 1200 Public Speaking
- BIO 1550 Nutrition
- *CHEM 1600 Health Science Chemistry + lab (Organic)
- *BIO 2500 Human Anatomy + lab(min. grade = ‘B’)
- *BIO 2600 Human Physiology + lab (min. grade = ‘B’)
- Students must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
- The minimum passing grade in Human Anatomy and Physiology is a ‘B’.
- Students cannot repeat previously passed prerequisite courses in order to raise their GPA (this parallels University policy). Exception: repeated courses that were initially taken more than five years ago.
- Students who do not pass more than one class required for the nursing major (i.e., prerequisite, co-requisite, or Nursing) are disqualified from being in
- the nursing program.
- Freshmen who complete all prerequisite courses by the end of the spring semester of their freshmen year will receive priority placement into a fall nursing program entering cohort.
- Before entering the Nursing program, all students must be medically cleared in order to ensure the safety and well-being of patients encountered in the clinical setting.
