Nursing Program
The Registered Nursing Training program in Danville Community College does not have external accreditation; nevertheless, it does function under the terms and conditions of The Virginia State Board of Nursing along with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Danville Community College nursing does intend to sign up for accreditation from The Accreditation Commission in Education for Nursing (ACEN). The VCCS is at present along the way of adopting a typical RN curriculum. The new curriculum will be dependent on Nursing Concepts of Education, that has yet to be endorsed by the State Board of Nursing or ACEN. Once the curriculum is endorsed, the RN training program will begin the accreditation procedure with ACEN.
Any LPN who wishes to become a Registered Nurse may apply to the training program. Before entering the training program, practicing LPN’s have the choice to take the Basics and Health Assessment HESI standardized test and also exempt these classes with an appropriate HESI score or they must take the Basics and Health Evaluation course during the very first semester. The pass rate for NCLEX is recorded high.
