Graduates of Dallas Nursing Institute Associate Degree in nursing training program will be academically prepared to become licensed registered nurses (RN), providing compassionate care to clients at any place that health-care is implemented.

Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and will be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing examination. Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

• An American College Test (ACT) score within the last five years with a composite score of 19 or above
• A Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score within the last five years with a composite score of 1350 or above
• The RN Admission Assessment HESI A2 Exam composite score of 80 or above within the last two years with one retake attempt of any or all sections
• Completion with a minimum grade of 2.0 or C of the following courses or their equivalent from an accredited institution: BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, ENGL 1301, PSYC 2301, PSYC 2314. No student will be admitted to the ADN programs if he/she has failed two attempts at BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, BIOL 2420, HPRS 2300, HPRS 2301.
• Cumulative GPA for transferring credits of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale.
• Two professional letters of reference (non-family members).
• Applicant must complete an essay scored by program director or designee.
• Applicant must pass a drug screen (Board of Nursing 213.29 Criteria and Procedure Regarding Intemperate Use and Lack of Fitness in Eligibility and Disciplinary Matters).
• Applicant background check must meet the Board of Nursing 213.28 criteria regarding Licensure of Person with Criminal Offenses. Minor criminal offenses [Class C misdemeanor(s)] will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Decision of the Executive Director is final.
• Interview with ADN program director or designee.
• If all requirements are met, then the completed admissions packet will be forwarded to the Nursing Admission Committee for a panel interview. The committee is currently comprised of:
• The ADN Program Director, RN, MSN
• The ADN faculty member, RN, MSN
• The LRC Manager, MLIS
• The Student Services Coordinator, MA.
