Copper Mountain College (CMC) is a community college situated in Joshua Tree, California, United States. It was licensed in 2001 as the Copper Mountain College is an offshoot of the College of the Desert. It was initially an extension institution for members of the Marines stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twenty-nine Palms, California, United States. It is an independent college and is no more associated with College of the Desert. Coyotes is the nickname for future Copper Mountain College athletic teams.
Copper Mountain College (CMC), established in 1966, serves the inhabitants of the Morongo Unified School District, consisted of the communities of Landers, Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, Joshua tree, and Twenty-nine Palms and is a section of the Desert Community College District.
The college is famous for being constructed by the people; it’s very first stage was paid for almost entirely with local private money and also subsequent stages with substantial private help. Now governed by its locally elected board of trustees, Copper Mountain College road to independence was accelerated by legislative action in recognition of the college’s distinctly strong local support.
NURSING
The Associate Degree – Registered Nursing Program consists of 37 units of nursing theory and clinical experience and also approximately 35 to 38 units of science and general education courses. Theory and clinical operate at the same time with clinical experiences provided in different health-care facilities within the community. Each are supported by time spent in the Nursing Resource Lab (NRL). Opportunities for competencies practice using simulation mannequins, specialized health-care tools and videos are all art of a guided learning experience.
The Registered Nurse Program is designed to prepare graduates to practice as an entry level Nurse Generalist. Most students accepted to the Registered Nurse Program have completed all coursework (apart from nursing courses) just before admission. A new class is accepted annually in the Fall semester.
The Registered Nurse Program requires a criminal background check and drug screening. Students must understand that the results of the background check might have an effect on academic program eligibility or clinical/community site placement. Pupils may be refused access to the training program on the basis of the results of the background check and/or drug screening.
