Contra Costa College, in San Pablo, California, United States, is the west campus of the Contra Costa Community College District. It is part of the California community colleges system, among the three college systems in California.

The college was established as West Contra Costa Junior College in 1949, with the very first classes conducted in the spring of 1950 at a non-permanent location in the shuttered Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond, California, USA. In 1957, a permanent campus was unveiled on Mission Bell Drive in downtown San Pablo.

The college campus is also the home of Middle College High School, whose pupils take college classes along with regular high school courses. The high school is a member of the West Contra Costa Unified School District.

A number of premier programs call the college home, including:

  • The Centre for Science Excellence, which functions to increase the involvement of pupils of color and women in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics. A lot of students in the training program go on to top-tier universities and have earned outstanding internship offers to research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.
  • Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program, which has seen its graduates pass the state NCLEX examination at rates of 95 to 100% in the last ten years.

NURSING

Contra Costa College’s Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN) has been graduating nurses ever since the year 1960. The training program is built to meet the college demands for graduation with eligibility for an A.S. degree, as well as the demands of the California Board of Registered Nursing. Contra Costa College is confident of its outstanding program, faculty, simulation and competencies labs, and the standard of its graduates.

The nursing program is four semesters (2 years) in duration. A graduate of the nursing program is qualified to take on the State Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). With the passing of the examination, the label of Registered Nurse is earned, and the graduate is eligible for entry-level positions in nursing.

Total program cost is USD $11,670
