Nursing Program
Columbia Gorge Community College offers a career ladder training program for people who wish to become registered nurses (RNs). After successfully completing the needed credits of the very first year of the Nursing training program, you will be honored a Certificate of Completion. Completion of this level meets the requirements for you to apply to the Oregon State Board of Nursing to take the examination to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
An associate degree in nursing (ADN) is earned after successful completion of the second year of coursework which meets the requirements for you to apply to the Oregon State Board of Nursing to take the examination to become a registered nurse (RN).
About The School
Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) is a two (2) year public college in The Dalles, Oregon, United States Of America on the Columbia River in The Columbia River Gorge.
The institution started in 1977 as the Wasco Area Education Service District, which shortly after was transformed to Treaty Oak Education Service District. The initial incarnation of the institution operated in leased amenities in downtown The Dalles for sixteen (16) years.

Prerequisites
Cumulative college G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater; completion of the following with a grade “C” or better within the past five years: MTH 95, WR 121, CH 121, BI 231; if the math and/or writing are older than three years, you must take a college placement test and test in WR 121 and MTH 111. Admitted and wait listed students must complete NUR 60 in summer term following acceptance/wait list
- Completion of all program prerequisites and supporting coursework with a letter grade of “C” or better. The required prerequisites must be completed within the past five years. (See Required Prerequisites section of this packet.)
- Submission of official (unopened) college transcripts for all courses that are to be considered in the awarding of points demonstrating a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater. A transcript for all classes taken at CGCC will be produced by Student Services and placed in your application packet; however, you must indicate CGCC on the application form as one of the colleges attended. If you are a CGCC student and have taken classes at Portland Community College (PCC) since fall 2013, you must request an official transcript from PCC.
- Completion of all required forms, including CGCC Admissions form. A checklist of required documents is provided as part of the application packet.
