About the school

  • Colby–Sawyer College is a non-public, comprehensive Baccalaureate college located on a 200-acre campus in New London, in the Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire, USA, founded as a coeducational academy in the year 1837.
  • A legislative charter was granted by the State of New Hampshire in the year 1837 to 11 New London residents for the purpose of creating a school in the town. The 11 men who were named as the academy’s incorporators were Joseph Colby, Anthony Colby, Perley Burpee, John Brown, Jonathan Herrick, David Everett, Jonathan Greeley, Samuel Carr, Walter Flanders, Jonathan Addison, and Marshall Trayne.
  • It was a coeducational secondary school, where Susan Colby served as the very first teacher and principal. It started with a student body of 26 girls and one boy but soon enrolled 54 more male pupils.

Total estimated cost of attendance is approximate $21,420

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Application Requirements

  • Fill out the Common Application- Common Application commonapp.org
  • Application Fee- $45 application fee waived for online applications
  • High School Transcript- Must be official
  • Recommendation- Optional
  • Writing Sample- See application for essay topics
  • TEAS Test- Test of Essential Academic Skills
  • SAT or ACT- Optional

The admissions office strongly encourages students to share their high school experiences and activities through the Common Application. We are looking for students who bring a dynamic and engaged presence to activities on campus.

Applicants must take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) by the Nursing Program application deadline. Colby-Sawyer offers the TEAS on campus at our testing center located in the Cleveland Library.
