Nursing Program
The pupils looking for a Professional Nursing licensure (RN) with an AAS degree will learn the theory, laboratory and also clinical components required to be successful in the workforce. There are two paths in Professional Nursing; Generic Registered Nurse and also LVN-Registered Nurse.
With the Generic RN Training program, pupils will get the chance to start their nursing training after completing the pre-requisite courses. With the LVN-Registered Nurse training program, licensed vocational nurses get the chance to further their nursing education towards the Registered Nurse degree. Successful graduates of the Registered Nurse training program will also earn the affidavit for NCLEX examination for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Texas.
The Coastal Bend College LVN to Registered Nurse Bridge Training program is two semesters in duration and once successfully completed you will receive an Associate Degree and be able to take your state boards to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Classes are web-based, hybrid, face to face, lab skills, and also on-site clinical experience.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Submit admission form completed online at coastalbend.edu/applynow/;
- Schedule and take the TEAS exam.
- Receive an application packet after taking the TEAS exam if applicable. Must score a 70 or higher on TEAS in order to receive application.
- Complete the application packet and submit it by the deadline.
- Await a letter in the mail to see if you have been selected by the Selection Committee.
- Submit an official transcript of high school grades and credits
- Return your acceptance letter.
- Submit proof of Bacterial Meningitis
TEAS exams are given on most Fridays throughout the year. Application packets must be submitted by the deadline posted on your application packet. The selection committee will select applicants for the program according to their GPA, TEAS score, and completion of coursework on degree plan, recommendations, and employment history.
