Nursing Program

The RN training program is offered at Clark State’s Springfield- Leffel Lane site. Clark State Community College offers both day and also evening registered nursing (RN) programs.

The Registered Nursing (RN) training program is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Nursing.

Graduates are able to perform in initial stages staff-level registered nurse positions in hospitals, extended care amenities, clinics, and also comparable health-care amenities as associates of a health-care team.

The RN training program is a space limited training program that admits pupils two times yearly in fall and spring semesters. Upon completion of the training program, the graduate is qualified to apply to take the NCLEX-RN examination. Licensure is compulsory for practice as an RN.

About The School

Clark State Community College is a two (2) year college situated in Springfield, Ohio. The school unveiled in 1962 under the name Springfield and Clark County Technical Education Training program with a purpose to satisfy the post-secondary, technical education requirements of Springfield and the surrounding area.

In the year 1966, the name was modified to Clark County Technical Institute (CCTI) and also was chartered by the Ohio Board of Regents as Ohio’s very first technical college.

Total estimated program cost is USD $19,560

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • Complete application to the College, declaring RN as their major
  • Provide official high school and/or college transcripts from regionally accredited colleges to the Admissions office if your previous high school/college credits demonstrate you have met program qualifying requirements, course pre-requisites, or previous completion of curriculum courses.
  • Demonstrate a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in the required courses in the curriculum that are completed, regardless of where the courses were completed, AND a minimum 2.0 cumulative Clark State Community College institutional GPA, OR if no College courses have been completed, a high school GPA of 2.5
  • Meet the following minimum academic requirements for admission

Reading

  • Tested out of preparatory reading via ACT, SAT, or College placement test
  • College’s reading placement test was waived for:
    • College English composition course with a C or better
    • Recent high school senior English course with appropriate grade
  • CPE 0200 with C or better

Writing

  • Tested out of preparatory writing via ACT, SAT or College placement test
  • College’s writing placement test was waived for:

 

  • College English composition course with a C or better
  • Recent high school senior English course with appropriate grade
  • CPE 0300 with a B or better or CPE 0400 with a C or better

Math/Algebra

  • Tested out of CPE 0600 or CPE 0650 via ACT, SAT, or College placement test within the last 5 years
  • College’s math/algebra placement test was waived for:
  • College Ohio Transfer Module (OTM) equivalent math course with C or better within five years.
  • Recent high school senior Algebra II course with appropriate grade within five years.
  • CPE 0600 or CPE 0650 with C or better within the last 5 years

Laboratory science

  • College anatomy & physiology with a “C” (BIO 2121) (within five years) OR
  • College biology (BIO 1410) (within five years) OR
  • College chemistry (CHM 1150) (within five years) OR
  • High school biology with a “C” (within five years) OR
  • High school chemistry with a “C” (within five years)
