Nursing Program
The associate degree nursing training program in Chippewa Valley Technical College is a two years training program which requires 70 credits to complete. The training program sites are Eau Claire, and also River Falls. The training program start date is August and also January each and every year. Wisconsin Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may be admitted with advanced placement to the 3rd semester of the Nursing-Associate Degree training program.
The Nursing Training program is endorsed by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and completely certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Chippewa Valley Technical College is among the sixteen technical and community colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System, based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Submit the college admission application. Apply online!
- Submit the $30 one-time fee.
- Be a high school graduate or have a GED/HSED
- Meet one of the following*:
- High School GPA of 2.8
- OR
- ACT Composite Score of 23
- OR
- Minimum college GPA of 2.2
- OR
- Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree
- Complete a criminal background check.
- Accuplacer and COMPASS scores are accepted as well.
- GPA scores based on a 4.0 scale.
- HESI assessment- The HESI is intended to assess your knowledge in English, Math, and Science. You will have only three attempts to successfully pass the assessment. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you take the HESI after you complete General Anatomy and Physiology.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT OPTION
- Submit Application for Admission located at www.cvtc.edu/apply.
- Pay the one- time $30 application processing fee.
- Submit ONE of the following:
- Official high school transcript which includes all courses taken, grades received, and date of graduation
- Copy of General Education Development (GED) certificate
- Copy of High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
- Official transcript showing completion of an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or higher degree.
- Submit ONE of the following by providing proof with a transcript or score sheet. You will be considered eligible for pre-program even if one of the below options is too low.
- Minimum high school/GED/HSED GPA of 2.8
- Minimum college GPA of 2.2 (6 or more credits)
- Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree
- ACT composite score 23
- COMPASS Pre-entry Assessment composite score of 60.
- Complete the HESI Exam- HESI Assessment scores of 75 or higher on each area of the following areas: Anatomy & Physiology, Math, and English are required.
