Established in 1985, CGCC is a comprehensive community college in Chandler, Arizona, serving the higher education needs of populations at three locations in the Southeast Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area -, the Williams Campus in Mesa, the Pecos Campus in Chandler and the Sun Lakes Center in Sun Lakes serving over 260,000 students and is the largest community school district in the country. CGCC enrollment is close to 20,000 students
CGCC grants degrees and certificates in several fields ranging from workforce development programs, and continuing education, alongside with nationally recognized programs. Chandler-Gilbert Community College is a member of the North Central Association (NCA)and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
NURSING
This program is offers students who desire the opportunity to become a licensed Register nurse through the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The Nursing Program offered at Chandler-Gilbert Community College is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. This program is intended to give students the general knowledge of higher education as well as nursing specific courses in order to empower students with the knowledge necessary to become a productive member of the nursing community as a Registered Nurse (RN). CGCC presents a program leading to an Associate Degree in Applied Science (AAS) Nursing. Thirty-five core nursing hours are required. Additionally, 10-20 hours of prerequisite classes in the sciences and math, and 16-19 general education hours are compulsory for the degree.
The fee of the programs varies and is approximately $16,870
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Students are responsible for getting their transcripts sent to Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Each student is required to take the HESI Assessment (HESI A2) and score at least a 75%. Students must qualify to obtain Level One Fingerprint Clearance. It is also required that each student pass a background check in order to enter local hospitals and other facilities for their clinical experiences. If students cannot pass the background check it is possible that they will be removed from the program and given a failing grade as clinical experiences are a required part of this program.
