NURSING

Our Associate in Arts in Nursing Training program is a two-year, regular program offered in 4 consecutive semesters, not including summers.

The nursing training program welcomes applications just once a year. Each fall, forty applicants are picked. Applicants not picked may reapply the following year. There is no waiting list.

Chabot College uses a “merit-based” method. The standard score or eligibility worksheet is a 100 point system based on these seven categories requiring all supporting documentations: Academic Degrees, Health Care Experience, fixed courses, and Statistics, GPA in Science, Life experience, Military, Second Language, TEAS score.

The top 1/3 of eligible applicants will be entered into a random selection method, and forty candidates will be accepted. The outstanding will be notified when space becomes available.

Approved candidates are required to attend a mandatory orientation during the summer. Date, time and also location will be supplied in the acceptance packet.

The program sets you to:

  1. Graduate with an Associate in Arts in Nursing
  2. Be eligible to take the National Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) and upon passing, become a registered nurse
  3. Work within a number of health-care settings
