Nursing Program

The Nursing training program at Central New Mexico Community College has been built to help with Industry shortages by creating a workforce for the local market. The program is built to educate you to turn into employable in the nursing industry and also provide advance opportunity. Central New Mexico Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in nursing that highlights a holistic approach that motivates pupils to grasp the concepts of clear communication, critical thinking, and also empathy when caring for patients.

The curriculum consists of classroom, laboratory, and guided clinical instruction that incorporates an important set of arts and also sciences classes with the nursing courses.

Graduates of the Nursing training program met the criteria set by the New Mexico State Board of Nursing to take the (NCLEX) licensing exam for registered nurses (RNs). The program is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

About The School

Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), initially Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, NM, is the community college for metropolitan Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States.

In the year 1963, Central New Mexico Community College (then TVI) was certified by the New Mexico State Legislators, and also voters  who endorsed its development in 1964 to “provide adults with competencies needed for success in the world of work.”

Central New Mexico Community College was administered as part of the Albuquerque Public Schools system, and its regulating board was initially the Albuquerque Board of Education. Since the year 1979, a different seven (7) member governing board has been chosen by voters in the seven districts that collectively make up CNM’s Tax District.

Total estimated program cost is USD $10,160

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • Take the free Accuplacer placement exam at CNM (see Assessment Centers). Placement Exam Score Guide
  • Submit official ACT, SAT, or TOEFL scores to any CNM Admissions Office.
  • Take a placement or challenge exam for Biology, IT 1010 (IC3 or CLEP), Spanish or French.
  • Enroll in the required prerequisite course and pass it with a grade of CR or C or higher.
  • Complete the required prerequisite course at another institution with a grade of C or higher (official transcript must be on file at CNM Records Office).
  • High School GPA must be a 2.5 or greater.
  • Student must have graduated with a Diploma.
  • An official Transcript must be presented to Enrollment Services.
  • Math placement will be based on a recognized assessment tool approved by CNM.
