Central Arizona College is a public community college located in Coolidge, Arizona. The school was established in 1969, and its first president was Dr. Jackie Elliott, The school was constructed to serve the educational needs of the population of Pinal County as it provides unobstructed accessible, educational, economic, cultural, and personal growth opportunities for the people.

The college offers a numerous academic degrees and certificates programs, online and university transfer courses, along with continuing education classes and workshops providing numerous learning opportunities for community members.

The school delivers its educational programs via the following Campuses, Signal Peak Campus, Aravaipa Campus, Superstition Mountain Campus, Maricopa Campus, San Tan Campus, Casa Grande Center, and Corporate Center.

 NURSING 

The nursing program at this college is aimed at providing nurses with opportunities throughout to acquire different levels of certifications so that they can continue to work while allowing them to become a registered nurse. After two semesters and the completion of one nursing course, a student can decide to take the NCLEX for practical nursing and acquire their practical nurse license. After four semesters, the student is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN and apply to become a registered nurse in any state that admits NLNAC accredited programs in addition to Arizona.

The Nursing Program at Central Arizona College is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing,

The average cost of running the program is $14,400

 

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Admission to any level of the Nursing Program is selective and based on specific criteria. Acceptance into the college does not guarantee acceptance into the Nursing Program.

Students will be considered for admission to the Nursing Program who:

  • Have been admitted to Central Arizona College.
  • All official transcripts from all colleges previously attended must have been submitted before the time of application. Request the transcripts be sent directly from the institution to the CAC Signal Peak Campus Records Office. Submit copies of your requests with your application to the Nursing Division.
  • Met with an Academic Advisor and have attended a Nursing Information Session
  • Completed BIO 201 & BIO 202 with a grade of “C” (2.0) or better (within 5 years of application)
  • Have a CNA license from the state of Arizona or a current Arizona LPN.
  • Eligible to register for MAT 141
  • Eligible to register for ENG101
  • Reading competency: Asset of 41 or Compass 81 or higher (within 2 years of application), or
  • RDG100 (Required before taking ENG 101)
  • English Writing competency: Compass 74 or higher (within 2 years of application)
  • Successful completion of the HESI Entrance Test at SPC (within 3 attempts)
  • Current GPA (cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher)
