Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- Complete the required high school A-G coursework:
- History and Social Science (including 1 year of U.S. history or 1 semester of U.S. history and 1 semester of civics or American government AND 1 year of social science)
- English (4 years of college preparatory English composition and literature)
- Math (4 years recommended) including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or higher mathematics (take one each year)
- Laboratory Science (including 1 biological science and 1 physical science)
- Language Other than English (2 years of the same language; American Sign Language is applicable
- Visual and Performing Arts (dance, drama or theater, music, or visual art)
- College Preparatory Elective (additional year chosen from the University of California “a-g” list)
- Complete high school level Chemistry and Biology each with a grade of “B” or higher (if AP then “C” or higher) by end of junior year in high school (11 grade).
- The minimum eligibility index for the program is: 4200 (SAT) or 1010 (ACT).
- The eligibility index is the combination of test scores and grade point averages
LVN-BSN
- Applicants must have 60 semester/90 quarter units of transferable college-level coursework. A bachelor’s degree is also acceptable.
- Applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA in all of their transferable college-level coursework.
- Applicants to the LVN-BSN program must already be a licensed California LVN at the time of application to the program. The license must be unencumbered.
Human Anatomy + Lab
- All prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25.
- You must earn a “B-” or higher in each science prerequisite course.
- You must earn a “C” or higher in each non-science prerequisite course.
REQUIRED SCIENCE PREREQUISITE COURSES
- If an integrated A&P I course is taken a corresponding A&P II course MUST be taken at the same institution.

- Human Physiology + Lab
- If an integrated A&P I course is taken a corresponding A&P II course MUST be taken at the same institution. *NOTE: Mammalian Physiology courses will not be accepted.

- Microbiology + Lab
- “Approved Microbiology courses at other institutions
- Chemistry (general, organic, and biochemistry) + Lab
- A chemistry course, or series of courses, covering inorganic (general), organic, and biochemistry.
- “Approved Chemistry courses at other institutions”
REQUIRED NON-SCIENCE PREREQUISITE COURSES
- English Composition
- Any CSU A2 course, or a college-level writing course such as freshman composition.
- Students who receive credit for successful completion of an AP examination must submit proof of the AP score.
- Oral Communication
- Any CSU A1 course. Generally, a public speaking course that covers the theory and presentation of speeches.
- Critical Thinking
- Any CSU A3 course. Examples of courses that often meet this requirement are: Intro Logic, Critical Thinking, Argumentation, and Critical Reasoning.
- College Level Math and Statistics
- Any statistics course that falls into the B.4 category is acceptable.
- If an applicant has a statistics course, but it does not fulfill the B.4 requirement, the applicant must have a college-level B.4 course completed as well.
- Students who receive credit for successful completion of an AP examination must submit proof of the AP score.
