Nursing program

  • The Traditional BSN (Entry-Level Freshmen) training program in Fullerton, California State University is for direct-entry first-year students without prior nursing education who wish to pursue a Registered Nurse (RN) license along with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • The degree is completed full time all through the course of either a four-year pathway or perhaps a five-year
  • The Traditional BSN (Entry-Level Freshmen) training program comprises of 59 units of General Education/Prerequisite Requirements and 61-semester units of nursing coursework that must be accomplished full-time all through the course of either four years or five years.
  • Nursing courses are offered either at the primary CSUF campus or the Irvine CSUF campus.
  • Once accepted into the nursing training program, you will complete prerequisite and also general education coursework throughout your very first year (four-year plan) or first two years (five-year plan). You will have reserved seating in all science requirement courses.
  • All Nursing degree programs, Fullerton are certified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

  • California State University, Fullerton is a public research university situated in Fullerton, California, USA.
  • In the year 1957, California State University, Fullerton turned out to be the 12th state college in California to be accredited by the state legislature as a degree-granting institution. The following year, a location was allocated for the campus to be created in northeast Fullerton.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • Complete the required high school A-G coursework:
  1. History and Social Science (including 1 year of U.S. history or 1 semester of U.S. history and 1 semester of civics or American government AND 1 year of social science)
  2. English (4 years of college preparatory English composition and literature)
  3. Math (4 years recommended) including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or higher mathematics (take one each year)
  4. Laboratory Science (including 1 biological science and 1 physical science)
  5. Language Other than English (2 years of the same language; American Sign Language is applicable
  6. Visual and Performing Arts (dance, drama or theater, music, or visual art)
  7. College Preparatory Elective (additional year chosen from the University of California “a-g” list)
  • Complete high school level Chemistry and Biology each with a grade of “B” or higher (if AP then “C” or higher) by end of junior year in high school (11 grade).
  • The minimum eligibility index for the program is: 4200 (SAT) or 1010 (ACT).
  • The eligibility index is the combination of test scores and grade point averages

LVN-BSN

  • Applicants must have 60 semester/90 quarter units of transferable college-level coursework. A bachelor’s degree is also acceptable.
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA in all of their transferable college-level coursework.
  • Applicants to the LVN-BSN program must already be a licensed California LVN at the time of application to the program. The license must be unencumbered.

Human Anatomy + Lab

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25.
  • You must earn a “B-” or higher in each science prerequisite course.
  • You must earn a “C” or higher in each non-science prerequisite course.

REQUIRED SCIENCE PREREQUISITE COURSES

  • If an integrated A&P I course is taken a corresponding A&P II course MUST be taken at the same institution.
  • “Approved Anatomy & Physiology courses at other institutions
  • Human Physiology + Lab
  • If an integrated A&P I course is taken a corresponding A&P II course MUST be taken at the same institution. *NOTE: Mammalian Physiology courses will not be accepted.
  • “Approved Anatomy & Physiology courses at other institutions
  • Microbiology + Lab
  • “Approved Microbiology courses at other institutions
  • Chemistry (general, organic, and biochemistry) + Lab
  • A chemistry course, or series of courses, covering inorganic (general), organic, and biochemistry.
  • “Approved Chemistry courses at other institutions”

REQUIRED NON-SCIENCE PREREQUISITE COURSES

  • English Composition
  • Any CSU A2 course, or a college-level writing course such as freshman composition.
  • Students who receive credit for successful completion of an AP examination must submit proof of the AP score.
  • Oral Communication
  • Any CSU A1 course. Generally, a public speaking course that covers the theory and presentation of speeches.
  • Critical Thinking
  • Any CSU A3 course. Examples of courses that often meet this requirement are: Intro Logic, Critical Thinking, Argumentation, and Critical Reasoning.
  • College Level Math and Statistics
  • Any statistics course that falls into the B.4 category is acceptable.
  • If an applicant has a statistics course, but it does not fulfill the B.4 requirement, the applicant must have a college-level B.4 course completed as well.
  • Students who receive credit for successful completion of an AP examination must submit proof of the AP score.
