Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
- GPA requirement – Program GPA must be 2.5 or higher as of the deadline for the current application period. Program GPA is defined as any and all nursing program related general education coursework completed at CCC&TI or other accredited institutions. Developmental English, reading, math, and algebra courses are NOT included in this calculation. To gain points in the admission criteria, a grade of “C” or better must be obtained in any completed pre-admission coursework.
- Application – Submit the CCC&TI Admissions Applicationto Student Services. Applicants must indicate the campus (Caldwell or Watauga) to which they are applying on the college application. Applicants are not allowed to apply to both campuses.
- Official documentation of high school graduation/high school equivalency- Have an official high school transcript with graduation date or official high school equivalency documentation on file in the Admissions and Records office.
- College transcripts – Have on file in the CCC&TI Admissions and Records office official transcripts from all colleges or schools attended since high school. Applicants transferring from any other nursing program must submit a course syllabus for each completed nursing course to the director of the nursing program for admission consideration
- College Placement Tests – Take appropriate placement tests as determined by the college. The qualified applicant must demonstrate proficiency in reading, English, and math as indicated by appropriate placement test scores or successful completion of all developmental courses which are required before being eligible for the nursing program.
- Nurse Aide I Certification – Submit documentation of successful completion of a NC State-Approved Nurse Aide Training course (offered at most North Carolina community colleges or a North Carolina Health Occupations Class completed during high school).
- Nursing Program Entrance Testing – The applicant must schedule and complete the ATI-TEAS 6 (Test of Essential Academic Skills) admission test with a score of 63 or above. After an applicant’s first attempt, one retake is allowed within the application period. The score will be applied to the total point calculation work sheet to determine ranking.
- Nursing Information Session – Applicants must attend a nursing program information session. A required Criminal Background Check Acknowledgment Statement and a Technical Standards Student Statement must be signed by the applicant during the information session for the requirement to be considered completed.
