Nursing Program
The Associate in Science Degree in Nursing is intended to train candidates for a vocation as a registered nurse. The program’s mission is to prepare capable, concerned, and racially responsive entry-level nursing graduates whose professional practice cover legal and ethical decision-making in the fostering of health in the society.
Upon successful completion of all educational and institutional requirements for an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing from Broward College candidates are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). The Nursing program is offered in the three major campus locations.
The North Campus is located in the Health Science Building 41 at Coconut Creek; The Central Campus is in the Health Science Building 8 at Davie, and South Campus located in Building 72 at Pembroke Pines.
About The School
Broward College is a state college sited in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was established in 1959 as part of the Florida College System created with the motive to broaden Florida’s two-year college. The current name was adopted in 2008 showing that it is one of the schools designated a “state college” with the implication that it can offer four-year bachelor’s degrees. The Washington D.C.-based Aspen Institute named Broward College as one of the top 10% of community colleges in the entire nation in 2012.
Total program cost is USD $26,509.07 for Out-Of-State and $10,311.94 for In-State.
Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
NOTE: Previous Nursing credit must be evaluated by Nursing Department to determine admission eligibility.
GPA of 2.5 is required in the following courses with asterisk (*): *ENC1101 English Composition *BSC 2085 and *BSC 2085L Anatomy and Physiology I and Lab *BSC 2086 and *BSC 2086L Anatomy and Physiology II and Lab A general education math course (MAC1105, STA2023, MGF1106, MGF1107, or higher)
Admission requirement not calculated in prerequisite GPA). Grade must be “C” or better. MCB2010 and MCB2010L Microbiology and Lab
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses and meet the minimum required pre-requisite GPA to be eligible to apply.
A2 HESI Test is required HESI cut scores for consideration are: Reading 75%; Vocabulary 75%; Grammar 75%; Math 75%; Anatomy & Physiology 75%.
NOTE: To register for the HESI Exam, visit www.broward.edu/HESI or visit the Cashier’s Office on Central Campus to pay the HESI testing fee $65.00.
Bring the receipt to the Learning Resource Center in Building 17 on Central Campus (library building) to schedule exam in person.
Health Science Admissions Deadlines: The RN Application periods do not have hard deadlines. However, Health Science Admissions needs to have ample time to review and admit each term. These dates are subject to change. As a guide, please refer to the deadline dates below.
Applications received prior to September 15, 2016, will be considered for January 2017. Applications received between September 16, 2016 and February 15, 2017 will be considered for May 2017. Applications received between February 16, 2016 and May 15, 2017 will be considered for August 2017.
