Nursing Program

The Associate Degree Nursing Training program (ADN) at Blinn College is a 2-year course of study setting up males and females to serve as nurses in our community and beyond.

Furthermore, to the 2 year generic track (tutored on the Health Science Center Campus in Bryan, Texas), The College has an LVN-Transition training program (tutored at the Health Science Center Campus, the primary campus in Brenham, Texas, and the Schulenburg Campus in Schulenburg, Texas) that accepts Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and also grooms them to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in a single year.

The Blinn College Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Training program is endorsed by the Texas Board of Nursing and is nationally certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN).

About The School

Blinn College is a two (2) year academic institution based in Brenham, Texas, USA, with campuses in Bryan, Brenham, Schulenburg, and also Sealy. It was established in the year 1883.

Total estimated program cost is USD $13,000

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  1. Applicants must be TSI compliant. http://www.blinn.edu/testing/tsia.html.
  2. Achieve at least a “C” in all prerequisite and co-requisite courses and must have at least a 2.5 overall GPA in all prerequisite and co-requisite courses to enter the program. (NOTE:  Most students admitted have above a 3.00 GPA.)
  3. Complete prerequisites and as many of the academic co-requisite courses as possible. Co-requisites are not required to apply but will result in a higher ranking score, if some/all are complete at time of application.  Applicants must supply final grades to the ADN Office, only if taking courses elsewhere.
  4. Complete pre-admission TEAS V (testing before August 31, 2016) or ATI TEAS (testing on or after August 31, 2016) with an overall Academic Preparedness Level of Proficient or above. Applicant is ineligible for admission if Academic Preparedness Level is Basic or Developmental.  TEAS V or ATI TEAS must be completed prior to applying to ADN program and TEAS V or ATI TEAS score sheet must be included in ADN application packet.
  5. Students who are applying to the Associate Degree Nursing Program (LVN-Transition Option) must possess a current unrestricted LVN or LPN Texas license and must have approximately one year of nursing experience.
  6. International students must meet the general admission requirements of Blinn College and meet the requirements in step seven if student’s first/native language is not English. For inquiries and to schedule an appointment, please contact [email protected] or call 979-209-7699.
  7. Students whose first/native language is not English (ESL), are required to take the TOEFL iBT Test, regardless of US education, or years of residence. The Blinn College Associate Degree Nursing Program requires ESL applicants to attain a minimum score of 83 on the Internet based test (iBT), with a minimum of 20 in reading, 20 in writing, 20 in speaking, and 20 in listening.  TOEFL results will not be considered if they are more than two years old when nursing application is submitted.  Suggest taking the TOEFL iBT at least eight weeks prior to nursing application due date. Information about the TOEFL iBT may be obtained from the following website, www.toeflgoanywhere.org.  Please Note: the TOEFL score required by the Blinn College Associate Degree Nursing Program is higher than the minimum required by Blinn College.
