Nursing Program

The nursing program entails 72 hours of course work, which comprises 35 hours of nursing courses, 19 hours of general studies courses and 18 hours of special cognates.

The Associate Degree program may be completed for full-time students in 2-3 years. Due to the pattern of this program, it is advised that some mandatory college courses be taken before the nursing courses. This nursing courses must be completed in five years.

The LPN to ADN option is intended for LPNs who wish to complete their ADN. The LPN to ADN is accessible as space permits in one summer and two semesters of course work and must be completed within four years.

The purpose of the Bethel College School of Nursing is to grant high-quality associate programs in a Christ-centered academic environs that educate graduates with the values, skills, and knowledge necessary to care for clients holistically. Nursing graduates are trained to embrace a responsibility and dedication to life-long learning, service and professional development.

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredits the nursing programs.The Nursing Program preceding to RN licensure are accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

About the school

Bethel College, located in Mishawaka, Indiana, United States is a Christian liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Christian Missionary Church and founded in 1947.

Bethel College grants adult, graduate and undergraduate degree programs across the range of disciplines that symbolizes American higher education at small colleges. The customary academic majors include a significant general education factor which is characteristic of most liberal arts institutions. With some difference by major program, these students study courses in literature, fine arts, history, sociology, communication (oral and written), philosophy psychology, science, physical education, foreign language, and mathematics.

Also, because of the college’s relationship with Christianity, all students are required to take Bible courses (Old and New Testament) and a preparatory theology course. These foundational general education courses offer a broad background in the disciplines upon which more intensity is pursued in a major (or majors).

 

Total annual cost is estimated $27,040

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Application Process to the School of Nursing

  1. Admission to Bethel College
  2. Must meet all Admission Criteria as stated above for applicable program
  3. Submit the completed “Nursing Admission Application”
  4. Submit applicable essay
    • BSN or ADN – “Why I want to be an RN”
      Include how you feel you meet the following qualifications:

      • Physical and emotional health
      • Intellectual ability
      • Communication skills
      • Nonjudgmental attitude
      • Leadership
      • Moral character
      • Responsibility and dependability

Admission Criteria

Student must be admitted to Bethel College and must contact the School of Nursing before applying to the nursing program.

APPLICATION DEADLINE — JULY 15

  1. Graduate from high school or GED
    • Demonstrate a ranking in upper two thirds of applicant’s high school graduating class
    • Overall GPA of at least 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent/GED composite score of at least 50.
    • Satisfactory completion of college courses relevant to nursing may nullify unsatisfactory high school or GED requirements
  2. Testing (see grid for minimum required scores)
    • ACT or SAT scores within 5 years of application to nursing program
    • Placement testing as determined by the School of Nursing if ACT or SAT is older than 5 years (option to test ACT at Bethel College if desired).
