Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Students must be admitted to Bemidji State University prior to applying for admission to the Nursing major. Apply to BSU Online.

1. Completed at least 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, including the required non-nursing courses listed below:

• BIOL 1930 Nursing Anatomy & Physiology I/II — 8 credits with lab
• NOTE: Can be substituted with BIOL 1110 Human Biology plus BIOL 2110 Human A & P
• PSY 3237 Lifespan Development — 4 credits
• PSY 1100 Introduction to Psychology — 4 credits
• CHEM 1111 General Chemistry I — 4 credits with lab
• The above-listed courses must have been completed within the past five years. All prerequisite courses must be taken for a letter grade; a grade of C or higher is required. Prerequisite classes can be repeated only once for the purpose of improving a grade.
• Prerequisite courses transferred from another school must be formally approved by the nursing department as equivalent before the nursing application is submitted. More information about transferring credits can be found here.

2. A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. This GPA is required to apply to the program but does not guarantee admission.
3. Two references from teachers, counselors or employers, submitted using the online reference process.
4. Transcript with proof of a completed Nursing Assistant course (or valid Practical Nurse license).
5. Current American Heart Association HeartCode BLS or BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR certification. Check the links above for more information about course options.
6. Taken or be enrolled in NRSG 2000 at BSU.
