Nursing Program

The ADN training program in Atlantic Cape Community College prepares pupils for first-level positions as Registered Nurses by providing courses made up of theoretical and also clinical study.

The theoretical component encompasses general education and also nursing courses. The clinical module, within the nursing classes, affords the pupil the chance to practice giving straight nursing care to clients in acute, long lasting, and community health-care agencies under the assistance of eligible nursing faculty.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Atlantic Cape Community College is a certified, co-educational, two (2) year, public, community college situated in both Atlantic County and also Cape May County in New Jersey, United States. Atlantic Cape enrolls a lot more than 6,000 pupils. Its primary campuses are in the Mays Landing portion of Hamilton Township in Atlantic Region, Atlantic City, as well as Cape May Court House.

Initially known as Atlantic Community College, it was the 2nd county college structured in the state of New Jersey when it was founded in 1964. On January 1, 1999, Atlantic Community College formally turned a joint college with Cape May County, and in February in the year 1999  was renamed Atlantic Cape Community College.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better and an overall GPA of 2.5 or better and science course(s) must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, to be eligible to apply to the Nursing program. Prerequisites courses: ENGL101-Composition I, PSYC101-General Psychology, SOCL101-Principles of Sociology, **BIOL220-Human Anatomy and Physiology I.
  • A standardized pre-nursing exam (ATI TEAS) is required for admission to the Nursing program. The test must have been completed within the last three years. Applicants must receive a minimum score of 58.7 for their application to be considered.
  • All science courses must have been taken within the last ten years or must be repeated.
  • LPN applicants are required to complete, with a grade of C or better, NURS109-LPN Transition course and BIOL221-Human Anatomy and Physiology II (formerly, BIOL121), before being admitted to the Nursing program.
  • Students must begin the program in the fall of the year they apply. Students who are unable to do so must reapply to the program for a future class.
  • Students must complete the Nursing program in five-years from the date of acceptance.
  • Students must meet the health requirements of the State of New Jersey and the clinical agencies that are used for clinical experiences.
