Nursing Program
The nursing program started at Florida Hospital in 1913. Over the years, the hospital included other programs in Radiography (1962), Practical Nursing (1964), and Sonography (1988). In 1992, the four programs above were merged to form a new school, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences.
The school later became a baccalaureate-granting institution in 1998 with the introduction of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Admission requirements for the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program include a college grade point average of 2.70 or better in all prerequisite courses, attendance to a mandatory pre-nursing information session, and a passing score on the Test of Essential Academic Skills V.
Applicants must also submit an essay that addresses why the individual wants to be a nurse and why the individual chose a faith-based institution. Being next to the Florida Hospital, students have access to many clinical opportunities.
- Recommendations
Submit two ADU Recommendation Forms. If an applicant to an undergraduate program has completed at least one trimester at Adventist University of Health Sciences before being admitted to a program, one of the two recommendations must come from any Adventist University faculty member, adjunct professor, tutoring coordinator, chaplain, or academic advisor. Special recommendation forms for this requirement are available in the Office of Enrollment Services.

- ACT/SAT Score
A minimum ACT composite score of 19 or a minimum combined score of 910 on the SAT is required for consideration. Applicants having 24 or more college-level credits from a regionally accredited college, however, are exempt from this requirement.
