Nursing program
- The baccalaureate training program (B.S.N.) at WVU is available for high school graduates who wish to a career in nursing (elementary students). The basic B.S.N. training program can be completed in 4-years at WVU’s Morgantown campus or even at WVU Institute of Technology.
- Healthcare organizations recognize the B.S. in Nursing (BSN) training program as providing students with excellent preparation for the nursing profession. Graduates are in huge demand and also enjoy many career opportunities. The training program is fully certified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. In the year 2016, their BSN pass rates on the national licensure examination were 12% above the national average.
- The BSN training program is offered on WVU’s Morgantown and also Beckley campuses. Pupils may also complete the freshman year of the training program at Potomac State College, and then a sophomore, junior and also senior years at Morgantown or Beckley. The curriculum includes courses in humanities, social sciences, basic sciences and also nursing science. These courses are taken in combination with clinical nursing courses

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:
Applicants are eligible to enter the BSN Program as freshmen. Admission is based on a combination of high school grade point average and composite ACT or total SAT scores. Students admitted directly into the nursing major as freshmen until the end of summer session of the freshman year to complete the required freshman course work.
- A GPA of 3.8 or higher, and:
- An ACT score of at least 26, or
- A pre-March 2016 SAT combined Math and Critical Reading score of at least 1190, or
- A post-March 2016 SAT EBRW and Math score of at least 1260
- A GPA of 3.6-3.9, and:
- An ACT score of at least 28, or
- A pre-March 2016 SAT combined Math and Critical Reading score of at least 1260, or
- A post-March 2016 SAT EBRW and Math score of at least 1320
Direct Admit students are guaranteed a spot in the BSN program in the sophomore year as long as they maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and pass all freshman courses with a grade of C or higher.
Pre-Nursing and other college majors may apply for admission to the School of Nursing after one semester of college course work.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all college work attempted
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the pre-requisite courses
- Completion of each of the pre-requisite courses with a grade of “C” or better prior to enrollment

- Intro to Nursing – NSG 100 (2 credits)
- College Algebra – MATH 126 (3 credits)
- Chemistry with lab – CHEM 111 or 115 (4 credits)

- General Biology with lab – BIOL 102/104 (4 credits)
- Anatomy and Physiology – PSIO 107 (4 credits)
