Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Admission to the baccalaureate degree in nursing major does not guarantee admission to the upper division. Admission to the upper division is a competitive process and the meeting of minimum admission criteria (GPA of 3.0) does not guarantee admission to the upper division. Students who are not accepted to the upper division should talk with their advisor regarding the feasibility of reapplication. If the student chooses to reapply to the upper division, the student must submit a new application for the next admission date and must compete with the new applicant group.

Freshman Application

If you are currently a student in high school, or have graduated high school and never attended a post-secondary institution after graduating from high school, you should complete the freshman application. Make sure to have a copy of your high school transcript and information about your SAT or ACT scores available as you complete the freshman application.

Freshmen must meet all university admissions requirements.  Acceptance into the nursing program does not guarantee progression into the upper division.

Transfer students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA in all college work with at least 30 semester hours completed. Students’ performance on science and nursing courses taken at other schools must be reviewed upon admission.

Enrollment in upper division is competitive and limited. The following criteria are used for admission to the upper division nursing course sequence through a competitive selection process:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher in designated (*) courses required for the BSN degree.
  • No more than 1 science course or lower division nursing course with a grade below C.
  • Completion of designated (*) courses in required general education and pre-nursing courses prior to the semester in which the application is submitted. A grade of “C” or better is required in all designated (*) courses.
