Nursing program

  • The Traditional Pre-Licensure Training program at Eastern University offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and also readies graduates who can safely provide professional holistic nursing care for clients and are generalists in diverse clinical practice settings. The traditional BSN is a regular academic training program that can be completed in 4 academic years.
  • BSN pupils will learn to integrate Christian values and also ethics into all areas of nursing, to be able to know how to meet the requirements of their future patients.
  • BSN pupils will gain practical experience in Eastern’s on-campus Nursing Clinical Resource Laboratory and also off-campus clinical organizations. Students will work with award-winning faculty and also staff, who are committed to guiding them via their nursing education. In higher-level courses, pupils will have the chance to focus on particular areas of study, including Pediatric Nursing, Holistic Family Nursing and also Maternal Child Nursing.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

Students are admitted into Eastern’s College of Arts and Sciences through the Undergraduate Admissions Office.The Department of Nursing Admissions Committee will review the files of potential nursing students accepted to the University on a rolling basis.  From this group, qualified students will be selected to enter the nursing cohort.

Admission to the Nursing Major: Admission to the nursing major is a two-step process.

Step 1. The Department of Nursing Admissions Committee will review the files of first year students accepted to Eastern University. Qualified students will be accepted into the nursing cohort. Students will receive a letter informing them of the Department of Nursing Admissions Committee decision shortly after a decision has been made. Acceptance to the Nursing Cohort will allow students to take courses in Eastern’s Core Curriculum as well as the preliminary courses towards the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Step 2. During the spring semester sophomore year, members of the Nursing cohort will have the opportunity to apply for formal admission to the Nursing major reaffirming their interest in pursuing a degree in nursing. In order to be fully accepted into the Nursing major, students must complete the required courses, earn a 3.0 GPA overall, a 2.75 GPA in the pre-requisite sciences (BIOL 216, BIOL 233, BIOL 234, CHEM 118) with no science or math grade below a “C”, and complete the nursing major admissions packet.
