- The BS in Nursing is a community-based, holistic training program concentrated on a health and wellness model that educates future nurses in the abilities of communication, coordination and also cooperation with other health care professionals. Following completion of the training program, pupils are competent to sit for the registered nurse licensure exam and are also qualified to sit and take the holistic nurse certification exam.
- The Hispanic Focus is a unique elective course of study within the 4-year bachelor degree training program in nursing. Admission into the following programs is extremely competitive and requires a few extra steps.
High school chemistry is a prerequisite for admission to the nursing program. Students currently in high school should complete this course before graduation.
Freshmen enrolled in the Xavier nursing program must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.70 in order to begin sophomore level nursing courses and must thereafter maintain a cumulative 2.70 grade point average to remain in the program.
Students will receive two admission decisions: one for undergraduate admission to Xavier and one for the nursing major. Selected students will be directly admitted to the School of Nursing, but some applicants will be wait-listed. Wait listed students will be notified as soon as possible, but no later than July 1 if they are admitted to the program.
Any student wishing to be considered for admission to the School of Nursing must indicate nursing as their major of choice on their application for admission and must apply by the January 15 application deadline.
