Nursing program

  • Graceland University is a non-public liberal arts university of approximately 2300 students and also 150 faculties. Graceland has campuses in Lamoni, Iowa and also Independence, Missouri, in the USA.

Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  1. Minimum CUM GPA of 2.75 of all college work OR a Prerequisite course GPA of 2.75 is required. Admission is competitive and higher GPA’s are suggested.
  2. Students will need 60 credit hours of general education and prerequisite courses. These must be completed by the end of the spring semester, before the nursing program begins in June.
  3. Students must have English 1 and English 2 with grades of A or B to be eligible for the program. Students with a previous Bachelor degree in another major, will automatically met this requirement.
  4. Nursing Prerequisite Courses– Students must earn a minimum grade of “C”, preferably higher. Performance in pre-requisite science courses is viewed seriously by the admission committee. Additional General Education courses are required.

  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Introduction to Sociology or Cultural Anthropology
  • Developmental Psychology (human lifespan)
  • Introduction to Philosophy or Ethics
  • College Algebra or higher level math (College Algebra preferred)
  • Introduction to Statistics
  • Medical Terminology
  • Nutrition
  • Human Anatomy and Human Physiology with lab (courses can be taken separate or together)
  • Microbiology with lab
  • Chemistry – we prefer one course that has components of organic, inorganic and biochemistry (waived for students who received 4 or 5 on Advanced Placement high school exam OR 5 or 6 on the IB high school chemistry exam
