Nursing program

• The nursing curriculum at Minnesota State University is built to provide chances for the student to build a sound theoretical and also clinical foundation for the practice of professional nursing. Application for admission to the School of Nursing is a separate process and in addition to being admitted to the University.

Requirements for application to Basic Nursing Program:

1. Completion of at least 30 semester credits
2. A minimum career grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
3. Minimum grade of “C” in all required prerequisite and support courses

• NURS 282: Pathophysiology for Healthcare Professionals
• NURS 284: Pharmacology for Healthcare Professionals
• NURS 286: Relationship­based Care in Nursing Practice

All prerequisite Core and Support courses require a minimum grade of a ‘C’ and must be taken for a letter grade; P/N is not acceptable.  A student may repeat each Core prerequisite class once and only once for the purpose of improving a ‘C+’ or lower grade. Applications to the Basic Nursing Program occur every semester. Eligible applicants must complete the HESI Evolve Reach

Admission Assessment Exam. This Exam includes math, grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary, anatomy & physiology, and chemistry.  An interview may be required during the application period as well.
