Nursing program

• The College of Nursing at UIC is regarded as among the top colleges of nursing in the nation and is globally renowned for its nursing leadership. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) certifies College of Nursing programs and also endorsed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The school holds membership in the AACN.
• To obtain the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UIC, pupils need to complete the degree specifications of the Institution and also a college that is in effect at the time of first registration. The College of Nursing semester hour prerequisite for graduation is 120 semester hours.
• Besides fulfilling the admission criteria outlined above, students applying to the RN/BSN training program must have an existing RN license. Students who have graduated from a state-approved ADN training program and also who hold an existing license as registered professional nurse will receive 33 semester hours of proficiency credit. Following are the minimum requirements for BSN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

• 75/4.00 cumulative transfer grade point average
• 50/4.00 natural science grade point average
• Completion of all pre-nursing course with a grade of C or higher prior to enrollment. Effective for fall 2016, applicants must have all BSN prerequisite courses completed by the end of the spring semester before the start of the program. The five natural science courses (human anatomy and physiology I and II, microbiology, general chemistry, and organic chemistry/biochemistry) must be completed by the end of the spring semester before the start of the program and must have been completed within seven years of enrollment.

Pre-nursing course work can be completed at UIC through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or at another college or university. Applicants can view information about course equivalencies and how courses transfer to UIC and the College of Nursing at http://www.transferology.com. In addition, all students will be required to have a background check and drug test upon admission. If the results of either requirement indicate that a student would not be eligible for placement at the college’s practicum agencies, the student’s admission will be rescinded.

RN-BSN REQUIREMENT

• Completed UIC Application and $60 Fee (non-refundable).

• Official transcripts from all prior colleges and universities attended, including prior attendance at any campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago
• An international credential evaluation fee of $30 (assessed to any applicant presenting coursework taken outside the United States). The evaluation fee must be paid after submission of the application.
• Overall transferrable GPA of 2.75, as well as a natural science transferrable GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• TOEFL Scores (international students)
• Current RN license issued in the U.S. (must be obtained prior to enrolling in the program)
