New Mexico Junior College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews

Nursing Program

New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) Nursing Training program offers a two (2) year registered nursing education training program. The curriculum consists of classroom, laboratory, and guided clinical instruction.

The objective of the New Mexico Junior College Nursing Training program is to promote success by means of learning by facilitating the acquisition of the knowledge, attitudes, and competencies needed by entry-level nurses to provide lawful, ethical, safe, and efficient nursing care for persons, families, and also groups within our community.

Pupils who successfully complete the nursing training program plan of study earns an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Nursing and are qualified to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse ( NCLEX-RN ) for licensing as a registered nurse (RN)

About The School

New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) is a public junior college situated less than 5 miles outside of Hobbs, New Mexico, United States, in the southeastern corner of the state. New Mexico Junior College initially unveiled its doors to pupils in the fall of 1966, with an existing enrollment of 3,375.

The campus is situated on 243 acres with more than 331,400 gross square feet of constructing space, worth approximately $37.3 million.

Total estimated program cost is USD $12,890

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include:

  1. The student must be admitted to the college
  2. The student must be admitted to the nursing program
  3. The pre-nursing student must complete the following prerequisite courses prior to admission to the nursing program.
  • Basic Science ……..4 crdt
  • One of the following courses:
  • BI224 Microbiology is recommended but other listed courses are accepted
  • Biology (BI):114, 124, 134, 144, 224, or 224B
  • Chemistry (CH): 114, 114A, 124A, 214, or 224

All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher. Grades below “C” are not accepted by the nursing program.

  1. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 must be achieved for the following courses:
  • Basic Science Course
  • BI 214A Anatomy and Physiology I
  • EN 113 Composition and Rhetoric
  • PS 113 Introduction to Psychology
  • PS 223B Human Growth and Developmen
  1. Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Requirement: The pre-nursing student must take the ATI -Test for Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS) by the admission application deadline of May 20th for fall admission to the nursing program and achieve a ATI TEAS Adjusted Individual Total Score of 58.7% or higher.
  2. A copy of all of the student’s college transcript(s) and transcript evaluation. It is the student’s responsibility to request the transcript copies and transcript evaluation be sent to the Nursing Program Office from the NMJC Registrar’s Office.
