Nursing Program

Delgado Community College is famous for Charity School of Nursing. The institution offers two Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs; registered nursing and practical nursing. It runs dual admissions for each of the programs annually.

Furthermore, there are two added special courses: Nursing Success Course and RN Refresher. Since 1894 the school has trained tens of thousands of nurses. Presently it has contemporary services such as conference rooms, a computer center, skills labs, parking, video classrooms, traditional classrooms, lounges, a gym, a library, and patient simulator labs.

About the school

Delgado Community College (DCC) started in 1921 in the form of Delgado Trades School but today as one out of the nine public community colleges that operate under Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

It has several campuses scattered around the East and West Banks of New Orleans, the New Orleans metropolitan area, Slidell in St. Tammany Parish, the East Bank of Jefferson Parish and on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Covington. The City Park Campus located in the Navarre neighborhood close to New Orleans City Park is the main campus.

After several restructuring and reorganizing, it finally became “Delgado Community College” by the State Legislature of Louisiana in 1980 during the administration of David C. Treen as the Governor.

Total program cost for residents is about $12,237.12 and $25,103.52 for non-residents.
