Moorpark College ADN-RN Nursing Program Prerequisites & Reviews.”

Moorpark College is a California state community college with a 150-acre campus, in Ventura County, California, United States. It was founded in 1967 with an enrolment of 2,500 pupils and enlisted 14,254 students in 2014. An Exciting Animal Training and Management Center houses over two hundred animals on campus.

The Board of the Ventura County Community College District founded Moorpark College in the year 1967. In addition to the land already possessed by the District, Moorpark College expanded into a 134-acre parcel of land on Moorpark’s eastern boundary, donated by a local ranching family, the Strathearns.

In 1965, the citizens of Ventura County passed a bond for eight million USD to construct the very first part of the institution. The building of the administration, technology, science, gymnasium, Maintenance buildings, the Library and Campus Center began in the year 1966.

Moorpark College formally started on September 11, 1967. The College’s very first president, Dr. John Collins, welcomed approximately 1,400 students and also fifty faculty members.

NURSING                        

The nationally certified Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) in Moorpark College is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, competencies, skills, and attitudes fundamental to the function of registered nurses in the direct care of patients. The nursing program is endorsed by the California State Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and authorized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) initially NLNAC. The training program is a four (4) semester program.

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

  1. Previous Academic Degrees, diplomas or relevant certificates (if any)
  2. Minimum 2.5 GPA in Science prerequisites (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology)
  3. Minimum 2.5 GPA in remaining prerequisites: Written Composition (ENG 1A) and (2 years of High School Algebra with a grade of B or higher in both semesters) or (Math M03 or higher).
  4. Repeats (W, D, F, I) in Science, Math and English Prerequisite (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, English 1A) and (2 years of High School Algebra with a grade of B or higher in both semesters)or (Math M03 or higher).
  5. Work or volunteer experience in healthcare (if any)
  6. Proficiency or advanced level coursework in languages other than English (if any). Credit for high-frequency languages as identified by the Chancellor’s Office but not limited to: American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi Russian, Spanish, and Tagalog. Maximum Points = 2.5.
  7. Approved diagnostic assessment tool, ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills version V (TEAS V) Minimum adjusted individual score of 62% needed on test for admission
