Mount Saint Mary’s University (generally known as Mount St. Mary’s College until January 2015) is an independent, private, Catholic liberal arts college, mainly for women, in Los Angeles, California, United States Of America. The college was established in 1925 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, and at present has 2 campuses, which are approximately 16 miles (26 km) apart from each other: Chalon in Brentwood and Doheny in North University Park, close to Los Angeles.

Approximately 60 percent of the entering freshman class are first era college students. Three-quarters of the college student body is comprised of visible minority college students, while women constitute nearly 95 percent of first-year undergraduate students.

According to the 2007 U.S. News Bulletin & World Report listing of America’s Best Colleges, Mount St. Mary’s College is one of the highest rated masters granting universities in the western United States Of America, positioning among the top twenty-five schools examined, out of 574 colleges and universities nationally.

The university’s seal, a circular shield, was built by Baker’s Heraldic office in London. It has four categories, each one representing the university’s founding. An open book at the foundation of the shield holds the institution motto, Deus Illuminatio Mea, or God almighty My Light.

NURSING             

Mount Saint Mary’s University Associates Degree in Nursing (A.D.N) training program is designed for adults desiring to complete their preparation as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in the evening and also weekend structure. Clinical are completed on weekends (Fri/Sat/ or maybe Sat/Sun) in many different Greater Los Angeles area facilities. Students must provide their dependable transportation to and fro clinical facilities.

Total program cost is USD $8,120

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

  • To be considered for admission you must have a minimum 2.75 overall GPA and a minimum 2.5 GPA on your Science courses and must complete the application process by the application deadline.
  • Required courses prior to admission:
  • Human Anatomy w/lab
  • Microbiology w/lab
  • Chemistry w/lab
  • Human Physiology w/lab
  • Speech 101
  • English 101
  • English 102 or 103
  • Lifespan/Developmental Psychology
  • General Psychology
  • General Studies Elective (Art, Music, Literature or History)
  • Sociology
  • Philosophy- Critical Thinking, Introduction to Logic, or Critical Reasoning
  • Required Science courses:
  • Human Anatomy w/lab
  • Microbiology w/lab
  • Chemistry w/lab
  • Human Physiology w/lab

And must have been completed within five years prior to admission.

  • All applicants for Pre-Nursing Option will be required to have the following courses completed to be considered admissible: English 101, General Psychology, and General Studies Elective (Art, Music, Literature, or History).
  • Failure (C- and below) of any two required science or pre-requisite courses results in non-admission.
