National Park Community College Nursing Prerequisites

National Park College (NPC) is a two-year institution of higher learning situated in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

National Park College was established in 2003 resulting from a merger between entirely accredited Garland County Community College and also Quapaw Technical School, which had been founded in 1973 and 1969, respectively.

It is currently considered one of the state’s largest community colleges, enlisting 3,000 students yearly in credit programs and more 3,800 students in non-credit programs.

The name of the college comes from its location beside Hot Springs National Park.

NURSING PROGRAM

The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree in national park college involves 2 years of nursing coursework with the completion of general education courses before entry.

The curriculum comprises of study in arts, social and biological sciences, humanities and nursing

The Nursing division offers certificate and associate degree programs which prepare pupils for jobs in the nursing industry. These programs and certificates can assist you seek progress or promotion in your present or future career.

Completion of the AS degree, you will obtain an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN). This qualification permits you to take the National Licensure Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) to earn a Registered Nurse license.

The Associate of Science Registered Nurse and the Practical Nurse programs are endorsed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. The A.S. (R.N) Nursing Program is authorized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN)

While completing the program, you will learn traditional along with alternative delivery strategies through laboratory experiences on and off campus. By these experiences, you will:

  • Value the idea of caring in health care.
  • Communicate effectively/competently within the health-care surroundings.
  • Use critical thinking and also knowledge to make decisions that enhance optimum patient care.
  • Apply knowledge, competencies, and behavior that promote quality and safety in the provision of patient care.
  • Demonstrate attitude that reflects professional practice: accountability, responsibility and legal/ethical framework.

Total program cost is USD $11,200

Following are the minimum requirements for ADN-RN Nursing Program. Minimum admission standards include: 

Students must provide an official score sheet from ACT or Compass with the qualifying score to be eligible for concurrent credit.  Score sheets must be turned in at the time of registration.  ACT score reports can be sent through ACT when you sign up for the exam.  Compass tests taken at your local high school will produce a score report which should be forwarded to NPC Admissions Office.

Please note for any class taken for concurrent credit, students will need a qualifying reading score.

  • For Math courses, Reading and Math scores are required.
  • For English courses, Reading and English scores are required.

See the chart below for the required scores.  Test scores must be prior to August 1st to be eligible for concurrent credit for the following semester.
