Samford University School of NursingAt Samford University School of Nursing, our goal of nursing is directing, maintaining, and reinforcing the adaptation of individual patients, families, and groups toward optimal health. Students taking Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing are baked to fully meet this goal as they use core nursing knowledge, critical thinking nursing skills, and nursing practice skills obtained from both nursing program and liberal arts to provide professional care in a variety of settings. Upon completion of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, student nursing student is eligible to take the national licensing examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN).

A student may apply to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program as a freshman and continue directly through the program for four years.  Upon graduation with Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, the student is then eligible to write the licensing exam for registered nurses [NCLEX-RN]. 

 

 

 

 

 

The following criteria are also necessary for admission consideration:

 

 

 

 

 

1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in the required science courses of Anatomy, Physiology,

Microbiology, and Chemistry

3. Successful completion (2.0 or better) of all prerequisite courses by summer prior to enrollment. Prerequisites

are:

Math – College Algebra or higher

Psychology – Intro

Psychology – Developmental

Religion – Old or New Testament

Anatomy

Physiology

Microbiology

Chemistry – Intro or Higher

Statistics

Research

Pathophysiology

4. International applicants or American citizens who learned English as a second language must score at least 500

on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

5. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office 7 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

6. Complete scheduled interview with Accelerated Second Degree Option 2 Coordinator and Faculty
